Become a First Time Home Buyer

Becoming a First Time Home Buyer means preparation. Thinking ahead and planning the steps to be eligible to purchase a home will make your experience a better one. As a Realtor, I enjoy working with First Time Home Buyers and welcome the opportunity to work with you if now is your time to become a Homeowner!

To become a first-time home buyer, you must have a solid credit score (typically 620–640+), a debt-to-income (DTI) ratio under 43–50%, and, in some cases, be a resident for at least six months. Key steps include saving for a 0–3% down payment, securing mortgage pre-approval, and completing a HUD-approved homebuyer education course.

Getting a pre-qualification letter from a lender, along with savings for a down payment and closing costs are among the most important things you will want to have in place as you begin to work for your home. By speaking with a mortgage lender and becoming pre-qualified will tell you what you can afford, which is an important factor as you begin your search.

As we begin to look for a property we will want to consider your goals. What are your community needs? Do you have children and or pets? Do you work at home? How do you see your years looking 10 years from now? These are all topics we will discuss as we begin to search for properties that fit your budget and goals. We will tour homes and I will walk you through every step of the home buying process.

I specialize in the Seymour, Sevierville, South Knoxville areas of East Tennessee. If I can help you become a first time home buyer, it is my honor to do so. Talk with me and tell me how we can best get started to make your dream come true.
